Philanthropy

Our approach to philanthropy

Philanthropy is a key component of our approach to Sustainability, from driving positive impact through our social engagement to supporting initiatives that provide for a more sustainable environment.

In 2024, Pacific Life’s Global Philanthropy Programme will disburse approximately US$850,000 to support several charity partners across the globe.  Support is both financial and through employee volunteering and donation matching, giving everyone the opportunity to get involved.

Aligning the Pacific Life Foundation’s objectives, we've selected charity partners within three focus areas: ocean health, food security and financial education.

Pacific Life Foundation

Together with our parent company Pacific Life, the Pacific Life Foundation has donated more than $150 million to nonprofits during the last four decades. We support a wide range of societal issues through our annual grant funding. Our volunteer program generates thousands of hours of service in our communities, while engaging our employees with many service opportunities both in and out of the office throughout the year. The Pacific Life Foundation has donated US$17.9 million to date to help support the conservation and research of marine mammals and to improve the health of our oceans.

Ocean health

We want to ensure that our environment remains vibrant for generations to come and have committed to supporting a number of environmental charities to advance this cause. In particular, we are passionate about ocean health and the vital role that oceans play in the world. From direct funding for major ocean health initiatives to organising beach and river clean-ups, we care for our waterways and oceans in multiple ways.

Food security

Funding the greatest needs of the community and providing stability for people most underserved has been at the core of the Pacific Life philanthropic mission since its inception. We believe that food security is critical to the stability of our communities and the health, well-being, and economic empowerment of its individuals.

Week of Service

Volunteering globally

We had 977 employee volunteers across the world who dedicated their time to make a positive difference in the fight against hunger as part of our first company-wide Global Week of Service events. Together, we packed 132,580 meals and kits for children and families in need.

Each office selected a food bank or food pantry to highlight during their Week of Service and we are proud to have supported nine charities across the globe.

Financial Education

We believe that access to education and increased financial security are vitally important to our communities.  We're proud to work with our charity partners to facilitate access to programmes and services for under-resourced individuals and families around the world and helping them improve their financial prospects. We do this by providing funding to our partners and harnessing the skills of our employees through our volunteering efforts.
