“I'm proud to work at a company that doesn’t just want to tick boxes, but truly cares and wants to make a difference for its people; always going that extra mile. Valuing the importance of employee well-being is what differentiates the good companies from the great, and Pacific Life Re is a great company!”

Looking after our people

We recognise that if you’re not feeling your best, you can’t perform at your best and so here at Pacific Life Re, the health and well-being of our employees is our number one priority. We are committed to creating a working environment that has a positive impact on our employees' health; both mental and physical. Whichever office you work in around the world, you will find a variety of resources and wellness events to support and inspire you.

In addition to this, we hold an annual global Wellness Week – which is five days devoted to our health and well-being, with a variety of activities and initiatives to try out and learn from, such as mindfulness or sleep workshops and training, internal mental health discussions, physical challenges, consultations, prizes and much more!

We want to make sure our employees are ready and raring to go; able to rise to challenges and work to the best of their abilities. To do this, we look to support each area of well-being:

PhysicalActivity

Mental Health

Our mental health is just as important as our physical health. Every conversation we have about mental health brings us closer to a world without stigma. We believe "it's ok not to be ok", and that no one should feel ashamed to admit when they are feeling low and need help.

At Pacific Life Re, we take huge pride in the fact that we have fostered a safe and supportive culture, where employees feel comfortable talking about their mental health. From regular panel sessions and insigtful talks, to Mental Health First Aiders, we make sure we are there for our employees, at all levels.

Lifestyle

It's important that we get plenty of sleep and have a good work-life balance, to positively contribute to our physical and mental well-being. At Pacific Life Re, we believe in working smarter, not harder, and so promote flexible working and taking time off when it’s needed, to avoid risk of burn-out and reduce stress levels.

Physical Well-being

Being active has many benefits, including keeping your heart healthy, lowering blood pressure, and reducing risk of stroke, type 2 diabetes, and cancer. Research has shown that physical activity can also boost self-esteem, mood, sleep quality and energy as well as reducing your risk of stress and depression.

Our bodies are not meant for sitting stationary day in, day out and so, with things like our gym subsidy, fitness and yoga classes and regular internal challenges, we encourage employees to take small, practical steps to increase their activity levels.

Nutrition

We know how important a healthy diet and keeping hydrated is for our well-being. It can have a significant impact on our vital organs, our productivity levels and even on how we feel. In order to promote healthy eating, we have fruit deliveries to each office, share recipes on our internal Intranet and in 2020, the D&I committees collaborated to create a global Pacific Life Re recipe book, with a diverse range of recipes from colleagues around the world. Why not try this one out for yourself?

Recognition for our culture —

We are delighted to have won several that recognise our emphasis employee well-being. They are testament to our ability to provide a stable and well supported environment for our employees; support our local communities; work closely with our clients and partners to ensure they receive best-in-class service; and remain innovative and to contribute to the evolution of the markets we operates in.
