Women and Allies Network

The Women and Allies Network (WAAN) is Pacific Life Re’s global network for women and allies, with chapters in our London, Singapore, Toronto and Sydney offices. It aims to make Pacific Life Re a more inclusive and rewarding place to work, not just for women but for everyone.

WAAN endeavours to open up networking opportunities for Women and allies alike and provide access to senior leaders in the company and industry, with the aim of forging stronger networks, building indivduals’ careers and learning through the experiences of others.

Recruiting and retaining female actuaries

Roundtable discussion

In association with the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries and Connectr we held a roundtable discussion with colleagues from the reinsurance market. The topic of how to recruit and retain more women actuaries into the profession was discussed with some great ideas and examples shared.

Award win

Diversity and Inclusion Champion

Savita Rai has been recognised as Diversity and Inclusion Champion at this year's Cover Magazine ‘Women in Health and Protection Awards’.

The COVER Women in Protection and Health Awards 2024 unveiled its list of winners on 2 May 2024, in an evening dedicated to the female leaders in the industry.

The winners were selected by a panel of expert judges from numerous excellent entries, demonstrated in the fact that many of our categories had highly commended entries.

The awards evening itself, hosted by comedian Zoe Lyons, was a celebration of the amazing women in our industry who are moving the needle towards innovation.

Financial wellbeing

The London WAAN chapter has a partnership with ISC group, a network for women working in insurance. As part of our partnership, ISC hosted a workshop on financial wellbeing. It was a well received workshop with lots of useful information about how to best manage our personal finances.

Dress for Success career developement day

WAAN also partners with charity Dress for Success, who aim to help women achieve independence by giving them career development support and providing them with professional clothing. The London WAAN chapter recently hosted a very successful careers day for Dress for Success, where Pacific Life Re volunteers offered mock interviews, CV sessions and networking sessions to women seeking to re-enter the workforce.

Women's FA Cup Final

For this year's WAAN social the committee organised tickets for the 2024 Women's FA cup final at Wembley. It was a great day out and the group were supported by our many of our male allies from the business.
